As part of this Directorate you will be part of a dynamic, agile finance function, which has responsibility for one of the biggest and most complex accounts consolidations in the world and the 2nd largest Departmental budget in Government.

The post holder will be expected to be involved in a number of business-critical improvement work streams as part of the DH Corporate Services Improvement Programme.

Key responsibilities for the roles include :
The successful candidate will be accountable to the Team Leader in the Operations Financial Service Centre, in the Accounts and Operations branch.

They will be responsible for a range of issues including :
** Managing continued delivery of operational services;
** Ensuring a fully operational intelligent customer-based function is established and maintained in the Finance Division and wider department;
** Leading an efficiency drive to challenge delivery of new/existing internal policies whilst delivering improvements in customer service;

** Provide oversight of Corporate accounting such as: monthly reconciliations; Non-Current Assets; Corporate reporting; GL maintenance; travel and expenses and ensure corrective action is taken where appropriate;

** Provide oversight for the maintenance of the corporate financial system
** Embed new working practices within the team to achieve Departmental vision and successful transition to the new corporate ERP system.

Person specification :
** Strong financial acumen with an ability to analyse complex financial areas;
** Ability to work independently and demonstrate critical thinking;
** IT literacy, including excellent working knowledge of Excel;
** Excellent people management skills with the ability to promote team cohesion, and adapt to changes and improvements;
** Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities;
** Effective liaison skills to work with multiple stakeholders from across DH and external stakeholders;
** Effective communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.

The following are preferable but not essential for the role :
** Experience of working within the financial environment of the public sector;
** In depth working knowledge of Oracle accounting system;
** Previous experience of implementing new financial systems.
** Desirable CCAB (or equivalent) Qualified or part-qualified
